Week 15 – Makover

Ben Franklin always seems to pop up in these types of study circles; success, innovation, founding principles, self discovery, etc. He was quite an amazing person. They don’t just let any slouch on the $100 bill, right?!

So I choose ‘taking initiative’ as the first week virtue. It’s not that I don’t take initiative well, but it just reminded me of that ‘future self’ thing we learned several weeks ago regarding procrastination. That really hit home with me and it’s something I’ve been very aware of and I have improved many little task things in my life because of that. I noticed it on both ends with others this week. Some just ‘doing it now’ and others putting things on the back burner so to speak. Either way it has enhanced that awareness in me and motivated me to get those little chores done. The reward is simply knowing that I’m going to have that great feeling of accomplishment when it’s done!

Best wishes to everyone in the weeks to come.

Week 14 – Harmony

I tend to enjoy the MasterKeys a bit more when they touch in on the science end of things. Learning about electrons in our body, our cells, how there is an actual physical connection with our thoughts and what we manifest. That is, of course, if we can comprehend that an atom and its electrons is something physical or merely a form of ‘energy’. My thought is ‘something’, just like light traveling through the air or electric current through a copper wire. I knew that the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second, but its quite amazing that this was discovered in 1676 – wow!

OK – on to the silver screen. I watched ‘Cool Runnings’. And yes, all the ingredients and parallels were there in regards to what we are learning and practicing in this course. DMP – Make it to the Olympics! (Jamacian track team) This DMP had to be backed by a burning desire to overcome the fact that the main character (Derice) had his hopes squashed after getting accidentally tripped in his qualifying run. After learning of a past Olympian in bobsledding who resides on the island, Derice is able to envision his plan of action and re-ignite his hopes of going to the Olympics – for bobsledding! Derice knew he needed a coach and the help of his best friend with this, and, after much begging and convincing and persistence, he got the start of his team. Ironically, two other guys who were competitors for the track team end up coming forward and being on the bobsled team. It looks like the team, and the mastermind alliance was now complete. Although they didn’t win ‘gold’, they all won by changing old blueprints and overcoming insurmountable odds. Great movie! Oh yeah, it apparently means ‘peace be the journey’. Nice!

Week 13 – back on track with the exercises

The timing of what was generally discussed in this weeks webinar was right on for me. “Don’t start slipping with the exercises!” The holiday season gets the best of us when it comes to losing focus on things. So now its time to kick it back in gear full force with the readings, sits, cards, etc. I did notice one thing though; the thinking remained constant and my reactions to situations has definitely been more positive. We are developing a knowingness, and that is pretty exciting!

I know the exercises are serving a specific purpose to allow us to be a channel to the infinite power and wisdom of the Universal Mind, but on a much simpler level life is just more positive with regards to my thoughts and feelings. It’s sort of a combination of the Law of Substitution and Dual Thought. You know that negativity is still there but it really has taken a back seat and it needs to work really hard to get my full attention!

Week 11 – Believe that ye receive….

Part 11 was a little confusing for me to read this week. It talks first about inductive reasoning, then how opposites attract (magnets, chemistry, etc.). Cuvier, Leverrier? But then it jumps in to the point of it all – In order to accomplish what is sought, believe that it has been accomplished! That’s how we were instructed to write our DMP’s. This is belief. This is faith. I guess we don’t really need to know why at this point, but just that it will. Part 20 mentions how people secure results by some process which they do not seem to understand themselves, and to which they usually attach mystery. This ‘puzzle’ that we are all involved with is definitely becoming a clearer picture, although several pieces are still scattered about! But that doesn’t really matter right now when I consider the progress I’ve seen through doing all the exercises and having faith that this works. This course has inspired me to pay closer attention in church too, especially since much of what we are learning is right out of the scriptures. There is one line we hear that I never put much thought to before but now it’s becoming clearer – “The Mystery of Faith”.

Week 10 – Plenty to go around!

I’m finding that sometimes I learn things backwards! Simply learning that there is an existence of natural laws of the universe has changed my way of thinking. True cause and effect begins with how we think, right? For these laws to play out we need to first have our mind and emotions doing the right things. The laws have always been there but my brain is only 44 years old! I love the analogy of how electricity works and the parallels with how the laws work. Our brain, thoughts and emotions must be like the on/off switch of an electrical circuit of natural universal laws. And how about this law of abundance? Nature is lavish, extravagant, even wasteful! There is an abundance for everyone! It’s funny how the opposite is often preached to us through mainstream media and conventional education. I am truly grateful to be learning the truth of how life can and should work!

Week 8 – Turn it off!

I’ve actually been kind of an anti-TV person for some time now. A few years ago I even un-subscribed to cable! Since then my wife has re-subscribed though. Some thought I was a little whacky for that! Cable TV is a necessity these days, right? I think that we all can agree that for the most part it wastes a lot of our time and litters our mind. I would usually watch TV when there was “nothing” else to do. But now, I need that nothing time to work on my thinking. (and the rest of our new good habits) So, I’ll bet that most of us, once and if the TV ban is over, will be watching less than we were before.

Week 7 – Another Diet?

I’ve never been much of a “dieter”, in the food sense, that is. We all know that most ‘diets’ just don’t work in the long run. We generally know what’s good for us, what to eat or not to eat and how much and so forth. But, this mental diet is something far different as I’m finding out. We know how difficult it may be to follow a diet and this seems no different, and sometimes even more so! That negative thought enters the mind before you even realize it. However, I do find myself ‘catching’ it and trying to correct it quickly. Again, it’s not easy but I feel that with more practice this habit will become more second nature. Either way it is changing the way I handle a negative situation by realizing my initial thoughts or reactions and nipping it in the bud, so to speak!

This visualization thing is great! As I’ve mentioned in past blogs, I’ve always been a ‘why things work’ kind of person. But this all requires faith and belief. Part 7 masterkey intro page even says ‘It can and does bring about results by methods concerning which the human or individual mind can have no possible conception’.

It’s a knowingness that is a work in progress!
